What is microneedling?
Microneedling uses a sterile, single-use cartridge of very fine needles to create thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. At Glow By Yaz in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, we use the Axion microneedling device.
Those micro-channels prompt the skin’s natural repair response, which over a course of sessions can help improve the look of texture, scarring and pores. They also allow professional serums applied during treatment to reach the skin more effectively.
Our Axion microneedling treatment includes mesoestetic serums with exosomes and PDRN (a DNA-derived ingredient often used to support the skin’s recovery), a dermaplane to remove fine hair and dead skin first, and LED light therapy to finish.

Microneedling is a versatile treatment for adults who want to improve the look and feel of their skin over time. Clients in Milton Keynes and Bletchley most often come to us about:
- the appearance of acne scarring, including rolling and shallow boxcar scars
- rough or uneven texture
- enlarged-looking pores
- fine lines and skin that looks tired or less firm
- marks left after breakouts, alongside a pigmentation plan
It is not a treatment for active, inflamed breakouts: those need calming first, for example with our Blemiderm acne programme. Deep ice-pick scars may need a combination of approaches, which Yaz will discuss with you.
Your treatment at Glow By Yaz
Your journey starts with a £20 consultation. Yaz assesses your skin, asks about your medical history and skincare, and checks that microneedling is suitable. She will recommend whether Axion microneedling on its own or BioRePeel combined with microneedling is the better choice for your concerns.
You may be asked to pause active ingredients such as retinoids or exfoliating acids for a few days before your appointment.
What happens on the day
Yaz cleanses your skin and performs a dermaplane to remove dead skin and fine hair. A numbing cream may be applied for comfort. She then works methodically across the treatment area with the Axion device, adjusting depth to each zone, while applying the serums. The treatment finishes with LED light therapy and a soothing, protective product.
Most people describe the sensation as a light scratching or vibration. Allow about an hour for your appointment.

Downtime and aftercare
- First 24 hoursYour skin will look pink, similar to mild sunburn, and may feel warm and tight. Avoid make-up, exercise, saunas and touching your face.
- Days 2 to 4Redness fades and your skin may feel dry or slightly rough. Use a gentle cleanser, the aftercare Yaz recommends and SPF 30 or higher.
- Days 5 to 7Most people are back to their usual routine. Wait until Yaz advises before restarting retinoids, acids or exfoliation.
How many sessions, and when you might see a difference
Collagen remodelling is gradual, so microneedling is usually planned as a course. Many people start with a course of sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart, followed by maintenance. Some notice their skin looks fresher within a week or two, while changes to the look of scarring and texture build over the following months.
Individual results vary, depending on your skin, the type of scarring and how consistently you follow aftercare.
